It used to be that when a new restaurant wanted to open up in an existing food service space, it would take months to fully renovate the interior. Now, thanks to a wide range of custom wall wraps and architectural finishes, that same space can be completely transformed in only a matter of days.
That’s exactly what we did for the new Flynt & Kyndle restaurant in Downtown St. Paul, Minnesota.
Flynt & Kyndle is the newest restaurant inside the Xcel Energy Center, home of the NHL’s Minnesota Wild and over 150 sporting events and concerts each year. The upscale eatery features a modern, welcoming atmosphere, inspired American fare, and creative craft cocktails.
According to the Xcel Energy Center website, “This seated VIP dining experience features three rotating menus with crafted salads, rotisserie meats, shareable sides, and delicious desserts delivered tableside.” The restaurant also features an exclusive VIP Hat Trick Experience during select Minnesota Wild home games, which includes a pre-game dinner, intermission snacks, and a round of drinks.
On June 20th, 2022, the Brand Ink team arrived at the Xcel Energy Center to begin work at Flynt & Kyndle. We were tasked with the measurement and installation of a unique wood grain wall wrap on many surfaces around the restaurant. These included the entryway, walls, tables, cabinets, bar areas, support columns, and a hanging island above the bar (where several mounted TVs would later be located). All in all, our team installed just over 6,000 sq. ft. of material.
For this project, we used a 3M™ DI-NOC™ Interior Surface Finish to refresh the surfaces and fixtures of the restaurant. This incredible film is conformable to a wide variety of materials and produces less downtime and waste than other, similar products.
Since the DI-NOC™ finish we used had a wood grain pattern, and it was going to be installed above existing wood surfaces, our team had to be careful to match the wood grain patterns and directions to ensure a consistent look and feel across the entire restaurant.
The result was a much more modern wood grain look without the need to rip out the existing surfaces. This ended up saving our client tens of thousands of dollars in material and labor costs. And the best part is, if Flynt & Kyndle wanted to change the look 5-10 years down the road, we could remove the DI-NOC™ finish without any damage and quickly install a new wood grain pattern or color.
